Blog Entry #10 Music

Image
Hello everyone! For this last blog I wanted to talk about the different ways music can help a person. As a student near their twenties I have noticed that music has helped me in so many different ways. People listen to music nearly every day, whether that is while driving, doing chores, or even studying. One main thing that music helps people with is their mental health. Music can be very therapeutic, it can help calm us down or even feel a sense of connection. Music can be very powerful in such beautiful ways, it helps bring us humans closer together. A very fun way to get your chores done is by playing music in the background and singing and dancing along to it. There have been many times where I noticed I get motivated to complete my chores only because I have music playing in the background. I've also noticed that music has helped me keep a good attitude while doing chores, because they can be pretty annoying sometimes. Even while studying, we tend to play music because it help...

Blog Entry #9 Media Synthesize

Image
Before I began my research for our assignments I never really paid attention to media outlets and how they can influence the opinions of those around us. Nowadays we use our phones more than ever, which means we have easy access to different point of views from people online. There have been many times where my opinion on something changes because of the other opinions I see on social media. I've also noticed that those changes in opinions don't only happen to me, but it happens to my friends and family as well.  My brother is a  big TikTok user, and his feed is always up to date with things happening around the world. He even knows of all the drama that goes on with celebrities. One thing I have noticed is that he always uses TikTok's to back up his opinion on a topic we are discussing about. This goes to prove that social media can definitely influence a persons way of thinking. Of course this isn't something that only happens to my brother, but it happens to most of...

Blog #8 Bad Customer Service

Image
Have you ever been to a retail store, or restaurant where you were treated poorly by the employee? For this free choice blog entry I am going to be talking about bad customer service. Bad customer service has been a topic that has been on my mind lately because I feel like I have experienced many bad customer service experiences in the span of a few months. There are a variety of things that make an employee a bad employee. Whether that is that they are rude to customers, they aren't attentive with the customer's needs, or they just don't do their job properly. As a retail store employee I try my best to satisfy my customers the best I can, but I have noticed that at other places the employees don't do the same for me. It makes me wonder why those people even have a job in the first place. Now, I don't mean to sound like i'm better than everyone else, but it can be very frustrating when employees treat you in a rude manner.  Things like improper training, poor c...

Blog Entry #7 #Hashtag

Image
Hello everyone, I hope all is well! In today's blog I will be discussing the topic of hashtags. I have known of hashtags for quite some time now, i've been seeing them ever since I started using social media. I always thought that hashtags were used in a more fun and joking way. Normally I see people use it for the word slay, or even ootd (outfit of the day). Hashtags are normally really big on instagram, x (formally known as twitter) and TikTok. I myself don't use hashtags because I don't really feel the need to, I post random stuff that doesn't need to be put into a certain category. One thing I have realized is that hashtags can be used in different ways. Hashtags have been around for as long as I could remember and they have come a long way since then. Nowadays people tend to rely on hashtags a lot because they are powerful and can make improvements. Political hashtags have had a great significance with everything that has been happening around the world. In The...

Blog Entry #6 The (Mental) Health Benefits of Traveling

Image
After Covid-19 happened, many people stopped traveling in order to remain a good health and reduce the chances of getting sick. It's been a few years now since the pandemic struck and it is safe to stay that things have began going back to normal. One of those main things being traveling. Many people have started traveling again although some ticket prices have increased. I consider traveling important because depending on where you go, you can experience different cultures, see new faces, and see different trends. But did you know that there are many mental health benefits that come from traveling? Traveling can do such things as lift your mood, reduce job burnouts, and lower the risk of depression.  I would say that one of the funnest things about traveling is planning. It is said that the anticipation people get from traveling can help lift their mood. Knowing that you have something to look forward to, whether thats a few weeks or months from now can boost your happiness ...

Blog Entry #5 Local Story Respond

Image
After graduating last year, I realized that a lot less students were planning on continuing school after high school than I thought. Not many people I knew were motivated on going to university/college because of the expenses along with other reasons. After reading the Doug Ducey article I realized that his Achieve60AZ attainment is a great idea. As a college student there is nothing I want more than for other people around my age group to be in school, studying something they like as well. As mentioned in the article, those with college/university degrees get paid more, which would lessen our poverty. It is very important for the future leaders of our society to become successful, and education can be a very crucial step to becoming successful. I also really liked that Ducey was even considerate of the low-income families, because many times, money is what stops teens from going to college/university.  Source:  https://educationforwardarizona.org/progress/indicators/att...

Blog Entry #4 Implementing Age Restrictions for Entry Into Sephora Stores

Image
It has come to my attention that many people are trying to start petitions to implement age restrictions for entry into Sephora stores. I have been viewing many tiktoks about this argument but I never really paid much attention to it until I realized how right their reasonings were. Last weekend while I was in Sephora, a group of kids came into the small, almost like an entire classroom worth of kids, and the atmosphere changed very quickly. The teenagers began running around the store, they were very loud, and all of the employee's along with the customers were just starring at them. I looked around to see where their supervisors could possibly be, but there was no one in sight. That was when it hit me, maybe kids under the age of 15 shouldn't be allowed into Sephoras.  A petition I read online argued that many kids have been destroying makeup products at Sephora's. Which doesn't only make the company lose money, but the employees get extra work by having to clean the...
